Due to high demand we are currently seeking a committed and organised Attendance Officer to join our local school in Preston. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in monitoring and improving student attendance, ensuring that all relevant systems and procedures are effectively implemented. Experience with Arbor is essential.
As the Attendance Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of student attendance. This includes recording and reporting attendance data, following up on absences, and working closely with parents, staff, and students to promote good attendance. You will be expected to use the Arbor Management Information System (MIS) to track and analyse attendance data, ensuring the smooth running of the school’s attendance systems.

Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor and record daily attendance using the Arbor MIS system.
* Follow up on unexplained student absences, contacting parents or guardians as necessary.
* Work closely with students, staff, and families to address attendance concerns and implement interventions to improve attendance.
* Prepare and maintain accurate attendance reports for senior leadership and governors.
* Analyse attendance data and identify trends, providing feedback to the school leadership team.
* Ensure accurate and up-to-date student records are maintained in Arbor.
* Administer and monitor student leave requests, including authorised and unauthorised absences.
* Support the implementation of the school’s attendance policies and procedures.
* Assist in the preparation for attendance meetings and contribute to discussions on improving student attendance.
* Collaborate with safeguarding and pastoral teams to support vulnerable students.
* Provide advice and guidance to staff on attendance-related matters.
* Ensure compliance with legal requirements regarding student attendance.
What we are looking for:
* Proven experience as an Attendance Officer or in a similar role within a school setting.
* Strong experience and proficiency in using Arbor or similar Management Information Systems (MIS).
* Good understanding of attendance-related legislation, procedures, and policies.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Requirements:
* An Enhanced Child DBS or willingness to undertake one (we can help with this).
* Legal right to work in the UK.
