Job description
Offer DescriptionApplications are invited for one postdoctoral position at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (NCAC), in Warsaw, Poland, to work on a comprehensive study of CNO abundances in Milky Way stars. The successful applicant will join the team led by dr hab. Rodolfo Smiljanic and work on the project . The project is an international collaboration with a team lead by doc. dr Šarūnas Mikolaitis, Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astronomy, Vilnius University, Lithuania. The overall project goal is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the abundances of carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen in a large set of stars belonging to all main Galactic stellar populations. The results will be used to study the Galactic chemical enrichment in these elements as well as stellar mixing processes. The project aims to provide important new input to improve models of Galactic and stellar evolution. The postdoc position in Warsaw will focus on studying the evolution of CNO abundances in the Milky Way, taking into account radial migration.
