Job description

Offer DescriptionThe Group for Vision and Intelligent Systems (GVIS) of the University of León (ULE) has researched several basic and applied areas since 2003. We work mainly on Industrial Quality Control, Medical Image, and Cybersecurity. We are interested in Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Machine and Deep Learning. Some specific examples are image segmentation, texture analysis, shape analysis, object recognition, face recognition, estimation of the age of a person, perceptual hashing, or natural language processing. We have applied those topics to medical and veterinary applications (e.g., boar semen assessment, carcass lamb flesh classification or classification of healthy tissues) and Industry Quality Control (e.g., to estimate the roughness of surfaces or the wear level of cutting tools for milling processes). In the last few years, thanks to the framework agreement between ULE and INCIBE (Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute), the GVIS has consolidated their applied research in Cybersecurity and Cybercrime. More specifically, we have been working with INCIBE on several fields of Artificial Intelligence (Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Audio-related fields…) to solve problems for INCIBE projects and services, whose final customers range from Law Enforcement Agencies to citizens and companies. Our work with INCIBE allows us to solve challenging problems in real tools and services, with the possibility of the diffusion of those results (conference/journal papers, local/national media) and transferring our knowledge through Intellectual Property Registrations and Patents.GVIS is looking for one postdoc researcher in Natural Language Processing and/or Computer VisionThe selected postdoc will tackle some of the most exciting problems. We will work with INCIBE to solve cybersecurity and cybercrime problems using Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning. Some examples of our research lines are the detection and classification of fraudulent messages, identification of campaigns and risk measurement, phishing detection based on sophisticated techniques, detection of cases of possible sexual abuse of minors on social networks and possible identification of victims, analyzing images, age estimation, CSAM detection and grooming in networks with text, detection of data obfuscation techniques in emails and forums, among others. If you are searching for an opportunity to solve technical problems and build innovative solutions for real projects and services in the field of Cybersecurity and Cybercrime, working within a smart and hard-worker team, this might be the opportunity you are looking for. You would reproduce state-of-the-art research and build novel algorithms and modelling techniques to advance the state-of-the-art in Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and Deep Learning while providing solutions that would help citizens and companies. What we look for
