Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Malignant Data Manager for the Paediatric Haematology Department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

This part-time position will be on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover and will be based within a small and friendly administrative team.

The positions lends itself to flexible working although regular attendance at the weekly Hemopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) team meeting held on Monday afternoons is required.

Main duties of the job

The position will provide support to both the Paediatric Leukaemia and Hemopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) Services within the Haematology Department. This will involve:

  • Maintaining accurate and up to date data on a range of malignant haematology databases about patients both current and past and reporting to relevant national and international bodies.
  • Responding to any data queries and research requests received both internally and externally to the Trust.
  • Providing support, organisation and attendance at relevant meetings and service reviews.
  • Assisting and providing cover where applicable to the HSCT Quality team to ensure effective continuity of HSCT Donor Co-ordination and compliance with applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Completing basic administrative duties including filing, scanning and minute taking.
  • Ensuring data is sent to appropriate authorities in a timely manner to notify them of any applicable significant events.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (C or above inc Maths and English) or equivalent
  • Evidence of appropriate further education/personal development, e.g. A-levels, NVQ or relevant education course.
  • A good level of IT skills demonstrated by competence in Microsoft software packages i.e. outlook, word processing, database and spreadsheets

  • Previous experience of working in a data management role.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of using a wide range of IT and information systems including Microsoft office. This includes experience of using Microsoft excel to produce statistics.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in NHS
  • Experience of using Microsoft Powerpoint to create presentations and of data base design using the Microsoft access programme
  • Experience of tracking patients.
  • Working knowledge of hospital systems e.g. PAS, eDMS, ICE, QPulse.
