About the Role

As a member of the Global Process Excellence team, you are responsible for improving existing technologies for producing chocolate and cocoa products for the Barry Callebaut group: more than 12000 employees, 64 manufacturing sites in 30 countries. Within this role, you will support manufacturing building and maintaining process and people capabilities, implement projects, and collaborate with the Innovation group.

This role consists of evaluating, recommending, and leading the implementation of new process development technologies that optimize performance, are cost-effective, and will improve product quality and manufacturing techniques.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • You are responsible fordeveloping the industrially robust solution for EXISTING technologiesand proving the economic value of new production technologies for BC, taking into account operability, safety, food safety, morale, energy, throughput, waste reduction

  • You establish and maintain global operational process standards, drive the roll out for Process Operating Standards (SOPas, Process routines, …), and Process capability monitoring across existing installations

  • You are responsible to provide training materials and train the trainers

  • You provide technical support to sites for day-to-day operations, line startup, (complex) NPIs

  • You contribute together with the innovation engineer and digital expert to the implementation of new technology on the shop floor with the ability to drive change

  • Youcontribute together with the center of expertise on process standard creation, you define process standards for installations

  • You are responsible to keep on filling innovation project funnels with needs and new ideas and you are contributing to the innovation funnel fromproject definition to standard creation

  • You are providing support toEngineering lead teams and leading the local engineers in the commissioning of new lines and equipment, a process point of view.

  • You havegood communication skillsand you are able to manage key stakeholders and partners in a complex environment, both internal (Manufacturing, CI&TS, Engineering,..). and external (vendors, suppliers, start-up’s,)

  • You act as one of themain knowledge and reference resourcesfor the assigned factories, the engineering team, and other cross-functional departments in the chocolate-making process, from bean to bar.

About You

  • You work in an international team on global impact projects;

  • You are willing to travel (up to 50% of the time)

  • You have a degree in Engineering (option food or chemical engineering, electromechanics, etc. ), Bioscience-engineering, Chemistry or Physics;

  • Background in process control is a plus

  • Knowledge of standard software (excel, word, powerpoint, google drive);

  • Combine food science with technology (equipment, suppliers, …)

  • 3Y experience in a manufacturing environment, experience in the food or process industry is preferred, manufacturing experience is a must.

  • You are motivated to profoundly learn about the production process and become a domain expert.

  • You have a broad interest in technology and are collecting know-how to deliver state-of-the-art solutions.

  • You have a good understanding of the interaction between products (food science) and machines (technology).

  • You are fluent in English, and knowledge of another language (French, Spanish, …) is an advantage as you need to communicate in an international context

  • Background in process control is a plus

  • You have the technical competencies to interact with operation leaders and our internal engineering & innovation department

  • You have strong analytical skills and work in a solution-driven manner

  • You understand and are able to build capabilities of technological processes

  • You are able to scale a process from lab or pilot to industrial production, providing input to the engineering team as well as describing operational guidelines.

  • In your role as domain expert, youleverage manufacturing big data in a smartway to gain additional process and business insight and make better decisions through data. You work in close collaboration with data scientists and data engineers.

  • You can focus on your own responsibilities while being able to work in multi-disciplinary teams (CI&TS, Continuous improvement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain)

  • You can communicate effectively with different stakeholders (from the shop floor to management), including with internal and external clients

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills- you can work with minimal supervision, including the ability of multitask and work under tight deadlines

  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines in constantly changing environment

  • Your entrepreneurship and technical skills allow you to realize creative and out-of-the-box thinking ideas.

  • You are a hands-on team player and enjoy sharing your knowledge with others

  • You pay attention to the human side in the change process

  • Proactive and self-starter, able to find creative solutions in a complex industrial environment
