Offer DescriptionVHIR is offering a position for a biomedical researcher within the Systemic Autoimmune Diseases Group to lead various projects related to autoimmunity.Main responsibilities and duties:
- Research Strategy Development: Formulate and implement a strategic research agenda aligned with the autoimmune research unit goals. Identify key research questions and emerging areas of interest in autoimmunity.
- Team Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor a team of researchers, postdocs, and students, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment. Conduct regular meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and future directions.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of research projects. Ensure high standards of scientific rigor and integrity in all research projects.
- Grant Writing and Fundraising: Identify funding opportunities and lead efforts to secure grants from government agencies, foundations, and industry partners. Manage grant budgets and compliance with funding agency requirements.
- Collaboration and Networking: Establish and maintain collaborations with other researchers and industry stakeholders. Represent the research group in academic and professional settings.
- Education and Training: Provide guidance and training for team members in research methodologies, data analysis, and professional development. Promote an environment of continuous learning and innovation.
- Ethics and Compliance: Ensure all research activities comply with VHIR institutional, ethical, and regulatory standards. Promote responsible conduct of research and address any ethical issues that arise.

- Advanced Degree: A PhD in a relevant field related to Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Immunology, Biological Sciences, or similar
- Specialised Training: Postdoctoral research experience in specific areas of biomedicine, such as immunology, cell biology, or genomics; with extended periods (at least 10 years) in internationally recognised laboratories

- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in relevant laboratory techniques and technologies.
Experience and knowledge:Required:
- Research Background: Proven track record in conducting original research, with scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals (at least 50), including some as corresponding author.
- Leadership Roles: Previous experience leading research teams or projects, demonstrating ability as a supervisor of PhD and master’s theses.
- Grant Acquisitions: Successful history of securing funding as the Principal Investigator of competitive projects or through industry collaborations.
- Collaborative Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaborations within and outside the research unit.
- Ethical Standards: Adheres to high ethical standards in research practices and encourages responsible conduct among team members.

- Gross annual salary: 37.000,00- 39.138,17 (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
