Job title: Factory Line Operator – Nestle Flexible Worker -Fixed Term Contract 6 Months

Location: York Factory

Shifts – 12.08 (12 hrs plus 5min handovers) hr shifts covering days and nights all days in the week, 24 hrs a week with additional hours available optional overtime.

Salary details £16.32 – £18.18 depending on shifts.

Position Summary

We are looking for Line Operators to join our Nestlé Confectionery factory at our York site to support the production department. These positions are on a Nestle Flexible Worker basis working 24 hrs a week. You will work with various teams and have the potential opportunity to work across all areas of the factory. Depending on performance, there is the potential to become a permanent role in the future with the world’s largest food and beverage business.

The makers of KitKat, Aero, Yorkie bars & Polo Mints are looking for help supporting the production team doing a variety of roles around the factory – working as part of a manufacturing team to create our confectionery products, monitoring quality of products, work as part of a production to team to operate packing machines whilst adhering to the highest safety and food hygiene standards.

Day in the life of a Line Operator

Your main accountability will be to achieve performance targets by operating machines and systems. In addition to this, you will be ensuring that the process runs at its optimum; producing high quality product and coordinating actions where necessary on your line.

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • You will be responsible for the safe & efficient running of production lines, reducing lost production time by keeping repairs and breakdowns to a minimum.

  • Ensure high safety and quality standards are adhered to in order to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Approach work with a continuous improvement mind-set.

  • Show ownership for the line including when a Line Leader is not present

  • Be a positive role model and ensure routines and standards are maintained

  • Provide a working style which actively involves and motivates your colleagues

  • Support with factory activities in order to achieve KPIs.

What will make you successful

  • You will need a practical approach to your work, along with a great can-do attitude.

  • You will proactively promote positive behaviours around individual and safety of others

  • It is essential that you have the ability to work as part of a team and be competent in problem solving skills.

  • You will have a logical approach to your duties and be able to follow processes delivering compliance in safety, quality, cost and delivery.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferable but not essential – role specific, on the job training will be provided.
