Offer DescriptionA support technician is required for the ‘Identifying Annelids in the Balearic Islands for Conversation and Environmental Monitoring’ project (PROANÉLIDOS). In accordance with the successful candidate’s profile, their duties will include cataloguing and preparing marine biological samples for the Natural History Collections at the Balearic Centre for Biodiversity (CBB) at the UIB, taxonomic identification, developing lab protocols to amplify molecular markers and handling data from public databases.PI: Dr. Enrique Arboleda HerreraFunding body: Direcció General de Recerca, Desenvolupament Tecnològic i Innovació. 1) Taxonomy, biology or marine ecology
2) Processing lab samples (e.g. identifying large groups and separating morphospecies)
3) Handling and preserving specimens for natural history collections
4) Taxonomy of marine annelids
5) Molecular biology (e.g. extracting DNA, PCR)
6) Bioinformatics processing for short sequences (e.g. alignments, taxonomy, delineating species)

  • Curricular merits in the field (max. 40 points).
  • Qualifications in the specialist area (max. 20 points), other (max. 5 points).
