Background job specificThe role is based within the Communications Group at Headquarters in Copenhagen. The Communications Group works to increase the visibility of the organization and knowledge and understanding about UNOPS and its work. This involves simultaneously addressing multiple stakeholders and positioning the entire organization, whilst maintaining a coherent brand and corporate identity. We focus on corporate communications, and teams within the Communications Group address both internal and external audiences. Externally, we are tasked with increasing UNOPS visibility through the promotion of its activities and expertise. Internally, we aim to support common understanding across the organization, and in doing so, help personnel work together towards delivering on UNOPS strategic plan.Under the overall guidance of the Director for Communications, in close collabor…Under the overall guidance of the Director for Communications, in close collaboration with the People and Culture Group, the Strategy and Transformation Group and the Executive Office, the Internal Communications Advisor will have the following responsibilities:Internal communication strategy development.Advisory services.Team leadership.Internal coordination and knowledge sharing.Internal communications strategyCoordinate the implementation over a six month period of the UNOPS internal communication strategy to support the strategic objectives of the organization in collaboration with colleagues across the organization.Measure continuously the effectiveness of internal communications messages and channels on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to review and amend the strategy as appropriate at regular intervals to ensure the strategy is fit for purpose.Implement the action plan with key stakeholders.Draft regular content for communication between leadership and all personnel.Draft content for quarterly communications with inputs on key themed areas.   • Provide advice to leaders across the organization to empower and enable the implementation of strategy through effective internal communication.
  • Advise senior management on sensitive and complex internal communications challenges, including crisis communications issues.
  • Advise and support country and regional offices in developing their own internal communications, ensuring consistency with the central internal communications strategy.
  • Liaise with the appropriate UNOPS management and figures where the internal messaging pertains to matters of policy or substance, and take action accordingly.
  • Chair biweekly sessions between the Executive Office and the People and Culture Group to ensure consistent and well-timed communications.
  • Chair the monthly Internal Communications Regional Conversation to facilitate dedicated discussion with the regions.

Team leadershipLead and be responsible for the Internal Communications team.Develop short and long-term work and development plans for the team.Ensure that strategies and priorities for the internal communications team are executed, resources are efficiently allocated, further developed and optimized.Monitor processes and individual´s performance against people’s work plans.Provide line management and mentoring for personnel within the Internal Communications team to promote their professional growth, motivation and satisfaction of personnel while ensuring appropriate personal development and succession planning.Internal coordination and knowledge sharingFacilitate and coordinate global communications across the organization and all functions within UNOPS.Contribute to the implementation of mission hubs and thematic communications to promote internal coordination and knowledge sharing.Education: Advanced university degree in communications, intern…Education:Advanced university degree in communications, internal communications or other relevant discipline.Bachelor’s degree can be accepted in lieu of masters with 2 additional years of experience. Experience:At least 7 years of relevant experience working with management communications in large global and cross-cultural organizations, including advising senior management.Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.Experience in organizational change management communications and/or internal crisis communication is desirable.Experience in UNOPS is an asset.
