The team is involved in mining data from ICT systems in search of indicators of cybersecurity incidents, such as DDoS attacks, intrusion attempts, and attacks on network protocols, and developing and implementing algorithms to identify anomalies and unusual patterns in security-related data.We are looking for an ambitious and committed researcher with extensive research experience in analyzing large data sets related to the operation of ICT systems using advanced data processing (including statistical analysis) and machine learning techniques. The person in this position will develop and implement predictive models to identify potential cyber threats and create simulated network environments reflecting the characteristics of ICT systems in order to verify and tune the developed models and algorithms and research and develop techniques to secure data privacy during data processing and analysis. They will also carry out international research projects in cybersecurity, participate in seminars and scientific conferences, and publish research results.Tasks: * Nurturing the Department’s vision and mission

  • Co-managing the Department’s portfolio of research and development initiatives
  • Direct participation in coordinating, overseeing and conducting scientific research in the Department
  • Scientific and technical cooperation of the Department within NASK and with external entities
  • Publication activities and raising funds for ongoing work

  • Possession of at least a master’s or master’s degree in the discipline of mathematics, physics, computer science or a related discipline, and a doctoral degree in the field of science and natural sciences or technical sciences;
  • Documented scientific achievements in the discipline of information and communication technology (publications in national and international journals, conference presentations, participation in scientific and research and development projects);
  • Recognised competence in data science/machine learning/artificial intelligence and/or security of computer networks and systems;
  • Proven experience in leading scientific and R&D projects and/or scientific teams;
  • Experience in successfully supporting the scientific development of junior researchers (supervising/assisting positively completed theses and/or doctoral dissertations);
  • Ability to develop small programs in more than one language, especially Python, Java, R, and C++, willingness to learn other languages, libraries and tools as needed;
  • Interest in cyber security topics;
  • Proficiency in Polish and English;
  • Willingness to further scientific development in the discipline of technical informatics and telecommunications, a clear vision of interesting research directions in the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, supported by the knowledge of the current state of knowledge in this field.
  • Academic internships in renowned research centres will be an added advantage.
