Summary You will serve as a TRAVEL TECHNICIAN in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY of COMMANDER U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa, Naples, Italy. Responsibilities You will review travel authorizations and vouchers within the Defense Travel System (DTS) for employees and/or their dependents to include operational travel, emergency leave, student dependent travel and NATO travel. You will conduct audits of travel vouchers and government travel cards ensuring validity of expenses as directed by Travel Officer. You will perform a variety of clerical, administrative, and technical work involved in the customer service and administration of civilian and military employee travel. You will maintain web based, digital files for clerical and travel related documents. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1. Knowledge of various federal travel regulations. Experience should include an environment with regular application of these regulations and other organizational travel policy and practices. 2. Experience with an automated or web-based government travel systems such as the Defense Travel System. 3. Ability to maintain internal control procedures (audits) as applicable to the travel section. This may include sustainment of metrics or reports that illustrate anomalies in travel payments, in/out-processing procedures or standard operating procedures. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily. Additional documentation may be required prior to granting preference. Military spouses and family members who are appointed may not extend longer than 2 months following the transfer of the sponsor from the commuting area of the foreign duty station; 2 months beyond the separation of the appointee’s sponsor; or any time beyond the time employee ceases to be a family member. ICTAP Applicants: To be considered well-qualified and exercise selection priority as an ICTAP candidate, displaced Federal employees must satisfy all qualification requirements for the position and receive a rating in the highly qualified category (score 85) or higher.
