We are working with a specialist SEN provision that is seeking a dedicated Humanities Teacher with expertise in either History, Geography, or Business Studies. This role is suited to an adaptable and resilient teacher who is passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours. This unique opportunity allows you to make a profound impact on the lives of young people within a secure and supportive educational environment.Role Overview:
- Position: Humanities Teacher (History, Geography, or Business Studies)
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (no planning or marking at home – non-negotiable)
- DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS on the update service is essential
About the SEN Provision:This provision is committed to helping young people with significant behavioural challenges and SEMH needs to engage with their education in a structured and understanding environment. Staff here focus on promoting emotional well-being, resilience, and personal development, supporting students in managing challenging behaviours that may hinder their academic and personal growth. The provision utilises evidence-based interventions and trauma-informed practices, offering a safe space where students can build trust and positive relationships with staff.Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Engaging Lessons: Provide structured, engaging lessons in your chosen subject, offering students a consistent and supportive learning experience tailored to their needs.
- Behavioural Management: Use effective strategies to support students in managing and understanding their behaviours, fostering an environment where they can focus on learning.
- Individualised Learning: Adapt your teaching to suit the unique needs of each student, helping them to progress at their own pace in a way that builds confidence and self-worth.
- Collaborative Approach: Work as part of a dedicated and multi-disciplinary team, supporting the holistic development of each student and contributing to a positive and proactive team environment.
- Inspire and Empower: Build positive, trusting relationships with students, encouraging resilience, responsibility, and positive behaviour, helping them develop skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Qualified Teacher: Holding relevant teaching qualifications with a specialism in History, Geography, or Business Studies.
- Experienced with SEMH and Behaviour: Experience working with students facing significant SEMH challenges and challenging behaviours is highly desirable.
- Strong Communication Skills: Able to engage effectively with students, staff, and other professionals to build a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Empathetic and Resilient: Possesses a patient and understanding approach, with a commitment to providing consistent support in a challenging yet rewarding setting.
