The position

As Senior Outsourcing Manager, you will lead a cross-functional collaboration group comprised of experts from R&D and other relevant parts of the organisation. In close collaboration with the Contract Managers your will ensure strong and collaborative partnerships with the various CMOs globally and effectively manage various outsourcing projects, specifically in the fields of chemical synthesis and biotechnology.

You will also be responsible for:

-Serve as the primary liaison in the selection and approval of CMOs, negotiating and maintaining relevant agreements
-Protecting Novo Nordisk intellectual property rights while ensuring quality and timely delivery of quality assessments
-Facilitating cross-organisational collaboration with relevant stakeholders across Novo Nordisk, e.g., in global research, quality, regulatory, purchasing, manufacturing development and commercial manufacturing

The position offers you exciting challenges as well as broad organizational exposure. You will experience a high degree of responsibility and visibility across the business unit.

Qualifications

We expect you to have a MSc or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or other relevant life science degree in combination with:

-+5-8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
-Thorough understanding of the R&D value chain and development processes along with expertise in Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
-Experience with outsourcing working with or at a CMO and strong negotiation skills are advantages
-Preferably, previous experience working as a Project Manager or Alliance Manager
-Proficiency in English both verbally and in writing

As a person, you have a commercial and strategic mindset, with the ability to quickly understand different complex CMO and industry dynamics. You can put the strategy into action by breaking the bigger picture down into outsourcing-related decisions.

To succeed in this role, excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities is needed as well as capable of working within a complex interdisciplinary organisation. As a person, you are proactive, positive, and independent and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Additionally, you enjoy taking the lead while also being a valuable team player.

About the department

As part of Novo Nordisk PSQIT organisation, Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) Development & Scaling makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We develop, manufacture and distribute drug candidates for clinical trials and have a strong culture with a “can do” mind-set. 

The CMC Outsourcing team supports the Novo Nordisk development pipeline. Comprising of approximately 30 dedicated and experienced employees, the department is responsible for executing sourcing and outsourcing activities. This includes selecting competent collaboration partners, negotiating contractual frameworks, and project management until all deliverables are completed. The department is a part of CMC Development in Product Supply and plays a significant role in bringing new medicinal products to the market.
