The Security and Safety Services of the UN City as part of the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) works to enable the conduct of United Nations activities while ensuring the safety, security and well-being of personnel and the security of United Nations premises and assets in Denmark.The Security and Safety Services of the UN City is managed by UNOPS on behalf of the UN in Denmark.Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Security Adviser, the Senior Security Guard reports directly to the Security Associate (SA). He/she assists the SA in monitoring the physical security environment as well as ensuring compliance with security procedures by the Security Guards at all UN premises in Copenhagen. He/she is expected to take a proactive approach in preventing security/safety-related incidents and to follow operational instructions given by the SA. He/she will be expected to work independently, make informed decisions in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guide Security Guards accordingly. In the absence of the Security Associate, and in order to ensure continuity, the Senior Security Guard oversees operational activities in the UN premises and performs other administrative duties, as required. The Senior Security Guard is responsible for overseeing the daily schedule of the security guards, ensuring smooth operations and addressing any gaps in coverage.   • Perform regular security guard duties, including long hours and night shifts, in addition to the additional tasks assigned to him/her;
  • Take a proactive approach in ensuring the continuous security and safety of UN Compounds in Copenhagen;
  • Assist UN personnel, guests and contractors on site in complying with security policies and procedures;
  • Assist in case of emergencies and evacuations;
  • Report security-related incidents to the supervisor and other appropriate contacts;
  • Handle mails and deliveries;
  • Monitor all available alarm and surveillance systems and take immediate and appropriate action when needed;
  • Assist the SA in the day-to-day running of the Security team;
  • Assist the SA in maintaining the Security Guards’ duty roster and leave periods;
  • Guide Security Guards to ensure continuous operation of the on-site CCTV and access control system;
  • Guide/assist the Security Guards in documenting all incidents relevant to the UN in Daily Activity Report (DAR) and ensure the appropriate storage of such documentation;
  • Identify issues to improve daily operations, including the recommendation of changes in procedures and SOPs, and report these to the SA;
  • Replace the SA in his/her absence and perform relevant duties. In this regard, undergo on-job training to be able to successfully perform functions without operational disruption (i.e., cross training);
  • Perform tasks not specifically mentioned in these terms of reference, in compliance with the UN Copenhagen Security post orders and as requested by the Security Associate or Deputy Security Adviser.
