It includes an employment contract (annual stipend around 22.000 € – full time), starting in January 2025 to work on the project focused on Comprehensive AI for Relational and Life Assistance. It covers all tuition fees for the Doctoral Programme, during the three years, as well as some costs and stipends for relocation. It provides a unique opportunity to work with the IQS Applied Data Analytics and Modeling IQS (ADAMIQS) Research Group. The thesis will be supervised by Dr. Albert Fornells Herrera from the Math and Data Analytics Department and by Dr. Horacio Rostro, from the Industrial Engineering Department.What is the general project?ALL-TARGET is a European project developed in collaboration with different hospitals and research centers such as Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute in Spain. The aim of the project is focused on developing precision medicine randomized trial for patients with relapsed or refractory Tcell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.This PhD Schoolarship is aligned within this project by developing a mobile application to enhance the quality of life for patients called CARLA (Comprehensive AI for Relational and Life Assistance). The system is designed to facilitate patient interactions and proactively detect emotional needs that may require specialized intervention by a psycho-oncologist. The research includes studying the capabilities of artificial intelligence for content generation, characterizing emotional states through interactions, and implementing systems for emotional identification and interaction facilitation. Thus, the system will function as a 24/7 assistant, allowing specialists to focus on supervision and intervention, with potential extrapolation to other diseases.Key ResponsibilitiesThe doctoral researcher will be working at the IQS School of Management. He or she is expected to carry out the concrete work for his PhD and to contribute to the development of CARLA. He or she should also assume assisting teaching responsibilities of one to three hours per week. He or she isalso expected to participate in different training courses and research activities and to assume responsibilities directly related to the research group.We invite applications from students with a strong academic record from a wide range of fields related to social sciences.Candidates should possess the following capabilities:

  • Quantitative data analysis skills (database management and basic inferential statistics with excel, SPSS, R or Stata).
  • Academic background (MSc.) in computer sciences or disciplines related to human behavior with a strong focus on programming and data analytics.

Not mandatory, but valued skills:

  • Experience in programming and data analysis using tools such as Stata, R, MATLAB, and/or Python.
  • Experience in mobile applications development.
  • Experience in biosignals analysis.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills and basic command of Spanish language
