Join Roche, where every voice matters.The PositionABOUT THE ROLEOur Instrumentation Development chapter leads the design and development of cutting-edge solutions for the future Core Laboratory, including pre-analytical systems, analyzers, post-analytical systems, and laboratory automation.We are seeking motivated young talent to support us with manual testing of the software developed by our teams for our Coagulation instrumentation.As a Software Test Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing software functionality and creating test cases to ensure our products perform as expected. Your responsibilities will include executing a wide range of testing activities, such as ensuring coverage of user stories, identifying and reporting bugs, conducting exploratory testing, and more.This role requires a keen focus on ensuring the robustness and reliability of applications, both within and beyond their explicitly intended use cases.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Executes assigned verification activities in specific areas with supervision.Supports the definition and implementation of test cases.Supports and collaborates on the definition of test cases and updates of existing test cases.Executes test cases and test scenarios based on requirements and user stories, and creates the related documentation with supervision.Ensuring adherence to relevant processes, guidelines and working instructionsActively communicate to resolve blockers and ensure continuous progress in assigned tasks.Communicate clearly and effectively in both English and Spanish to ensure smooth collaboration across teams.HOW WOULD YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LOOK LIKE?As a Software Test Engineer apprentice, your daily journey will be a dynamic blend of teamwork, learning, and tackling technical challenges. Your day begins with participation in software team Agile ceremonies, where you’ll stay updated on the progress of development activities, gather inputs, and start creating test cases even while the implementations are in progress. Once development is complete, you’ll dive into test execution, ensuring that each user story is thoroughly verified and meets the expected outcomes. Any issues or misalignments with the required functionality will be promptly reported and discussed.As you gain hands-on experience with the physical instruments, you’ll be responsible for performing maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and conducting exploratory testing to ensure system stability and prevent future issues.By the end of each day, your contributions will play a vital role in setting both your team and our clients up for success.WHO ARE YOU?We are looking for a recent graduate (within the last 3 years) with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (e.g. mechatronics, electronics, informatics, biomedicine, chemistry). Professional proficiency in English (B1/B2 level or higher) is required.Basic knowledge or experience in regulated environments, such as medical engineering, as well as familiarity with agile development methodologies, QA testing, or non-functional testing, will be considered an advantage.We highly value self-organization, accountability, a collaborative team-player attitude, passion, and a natural curiosity for learning.WHAT DO WE OFFER?We offer a dynamic and collaborative work environment where you will have the opportunity to learn and grow in the field of Medical Instrumentation development.
