This is done by actively monitoring network and system performance and acting in case of any degradation or outage. Viasat services includes maritime distress systems and global IP backbone networks. The NCC Controller initiates, coordinates, logs and reports all restoration activities.
The day-to-day

  • Monitor system performances, initiate and coordinate recovery activities in case of a hazardous condition, service degradation or outage.
  • Monitor the progress of any distress traffic in the network and ensure delivery to Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centres (MRCC).
  • Monitor for security threats in various IP-networks and perform first line analyses.
  • Analyse system log files, perform regular checks on systems and services to ensure its reliability.
  • Report any planned and unplanned activities to internal and external parties.
  • Provide 2nd line technical customer support.
  • Deliver performance reports to management.
  • Provide accurate shift handovers.
  • Maintain log book for all NCC activities.
  • Keep monitoring tools, processes and procedures up-to-date.
  • Assist engineers with installation and configuration activities.

What you’ll need

  • Technical education in electronics, telecommunication or IT from a technical college (Dutch MBO+/HBO)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • CCNA Routing and Switching certificate is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Satellite and GSM Telecom technologies.
  • Able to analyse and prioritise under stressful conditions.
  • Structured, analytical and efficient in problem solving.
  • High focus on Viasat internal and external customers.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work in a team.
  • Excellent reporting skills

What will help you on the job

  • Knowledge of Viasat Services.
  • Good knowledge of ITIL
  • Experience with Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, Unix, VMS).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools.
  • Experience in providing training
