We work with multiple partners to deliver monitoring, evaluation and learning projects that provide the evidence and analysis for better policy in this hugely important area of work.We’re now looking for an experienced project manager to join our environment team to coordinate proposals and projects from proposal stage through to delivery and successful outcomes for our clients. We particularly welcome applications from people with experience in project management for UK government clients, and particularly, for Defra and Natural England. Relevant experience in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) or project management for other UK government clients including FCDO, will also be considered.We welcome candidates with a background in the natural environment, ecology, climate, marine conservation and fisheries, countryside, and agriculture sectors, and will consider candidates with a background in monitoring, evaluation and learning, public policy, social policy and economics, preferably in relation to these sectors.This is your opportunity to make a tangible contribution to wide-ranging UK domestic environmental policy across climate and environment, the natural environment, marine and fisheries, and food and farming. • Bring together teams of relevant internal and external experts to deliver a portfolio of environmental monitoring and evaluation studies in the UK relating to the natural environment, climate, marine conservation and fisheries, the countryside, and agriculture.
• Lead the preparation and submission of proposals and subsequent delivery. This will include budget development and contract review, management of quality, risk management, budget control, performance review / client feedback, and client liaison throughout project lifecycle.
• Oversee the management of projects, ensuring all financial, contractual, and other obligations are achieved in accordance with the agreed terms of reference and in accordance with ICFs quality standards.
• Build effective relationships with clients and ICF subcontractors to ensure delivery of high quality projects that meet client needs, on time and within budget.

You will come to us with:

• An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple small to mid-sized projects on a large framework.
• A strong track record in bid and/or project management of environmental projects, or monitoring and evaluation projects, working as a project and/or bid manager.
• Experience of project and bid management in a consulting or similar project-based environment.
• A keen interest and experience of working in the environmental, natural sciences, or social sciences / policy sectors. Candidates with a background in marine sciences, natural sciences, agricultural science, social science or economics will all be considered.
• Experience of consulting for UK government clients (e.g. Defra, Natural England, MMO, Environment Agency, FCDO, DESNZ).
• Strong project management and commercial skills and expertise in business or programme leadership.
• An ability to manage and deliver projects from inception to completion
• Well honed interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
