Multiple disciplines are involved throughout the development: such as mechanics, mechatronics, dynamics & control, software. You make sure the design is reliable, safe, contamination free, cost effective and easy to manufacture, transport and service.You work in a multidisciplinary team of engineers. Collaborate closely with end user of the product. Lead the development by ensuring the right design decisions are taken and right choices are made.Your mission is to think conceptually and creatively, translate ideas and requirements to functions. You translate requirements into functions and design decisions.You have a good global view of the system and create the link between different domains and understand how they work together.Job DescriptionAs a MDT Architect, you will provide technical leadership to a project of 3-4 teams consisting of the engineers and/or co-developers responsible for the development of MDT tooling for ASML’s scanners. You interface cross project with other function and domain architects, lead engineers in a multidisciplinary environment.Derive specifications for tooling from functional requirements in the area of manufacturing and service.Create and validate new concepts; make sure there is consensus with stakeholders.Prepare and commit to planning for tooling, matching the project needs.Define qualification tests, verifying the tooling performance.The MDT Architect reports to the Group Leader of Tooling Development and is operational within multidisciplinary projects.Creation and investigation of mechanics/mechatronics concept design for tooling.Discuss with projects and sectors and supplier. Come up with well-considered choices, validated against system requirements.
Covering all aspects like layout, manufacturability, serviceability, transportability, install, performance, etc…Familiar with modern mechanical development tools like FEM, Matlab/Simulink, tolerance analysis, 6-sigma thinking.Familiar with NX (or other 3D design tool)Experience with outsourcing, supplier management and managing over company boundaries / inter-company stakeholder management.Technical leadership. Sets out direction for technical project teams.Abstract thinking, out-of-the box thinking.Helicopter view.Effective communication with all levels and disciplines. Ability to communicate effectively with strategic suppliers.Clear and structured way of reporting.Build and maintain networks throughout the organization and with suppliers.Able to challenge others, to come up with even better ideasContribute to system roadmapsCoaching and training on the job of other engineers in the teamEducationMaster or PhD degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronic / Dynamics & ControlExperienceMSc or PhD is a plusAt least 3 years of experience in a similar roleTrack record of mechatronic or other multidisciplinary products. Creating new designs from concept to details.Well-developed analytical skills and a pragmatic attitude;Experienced CAD user (preferably NX), and familiar with PLM systems;Experienced in evaluating FEM / mechanical analysis results.Preferably an already experienced technical leader.Knowledge in the field of design for manufacturability & cost (DFX)Personal skillsHighly motivated team player with excellent social, coordination and communication skills (English).Ability to work in an international multicultural setting.
