Job title:
PhD Position – High-Throughput Proteomics Analysis of Environmental Stressors’ Impact on Health
Company:
Syddansk Universitet
Job description
Job Description:The , is seeking applications for a fully funded PhD position within an exciting EU consortium project. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge environmental health research by using advanced proteomics techniques.Project Description
The project aims to gain deep mechanistic insights into how environmental stressors, such as air pollution, noise, particulate matter, ultrafine particles, and aeroallergens, affect health. We aim to identify the molecular pathways linking these environmental factors to chronic non-communicable diseases by focusing on the brain-heart axis. The candidate will utilize high-throughput proteomics, redox proteomics, and phosphoproteomics to analyse samples from cells, mice, and human subjects. This research will be conducted in collaboration with project partners, providing a comprehensive approach to understanding exposure-triggered health outcomes and identifying potential intervention strategies.Responsibilities
- Performing high-throughput proteomics analyses on samples derived from cells, mice, and human subjects.
- Collaborating with consortium partners to process, analyse, and interpret large-scale proteomics datasets.
- Identifying and characterising molecular pathways linking environmental stressors to NCDs.
- Presenting research findings at national and international conferences.
- Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Qualifications
- A master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics, or a related field.
- Experience in high-throughput proteomics, mass spectrometry.
- Strong data analysis and bioinformatics skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
What We Offer
- Access to state-of-the-art proteomics facilities and data analysis tools.
- The opportunity to work within a dynamic, internationally recognised research group.
- Collaboration with a diverse EU-funded consortium, providing extensive networking and professional development opportunities.
- Supervision by leading experts in environmental health and quantitative proteomics.
