Make your mark for patientsWe are looking to recruit a highly motivated Research Scientist with established expertise in Immunohistological methods to join the Spatial Biology Team within UCB Patient Solutions in Slough, UK.About the roleYou will be supporting the progression of therapeutic molecules at early stages of research and generating translational in vitro assays; to test novel therapeutics, investigate mechanisms of action and to identify novel therapeutic axes.What you’ll do

  • Deliver high quality data with defined timeframes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and identify and develop solutions to methodological challenges.
  • Maintain operational functionality of equipment and ensure good laboratory housekeeping.
  • Strong teamwork skills, provide help and if required training to colleagues.
  • Present data with clarity and confidence to team members and wider project groups
  • Be a key source of information relating to field of expertise, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to stay abreast of new advances in technologies and techniques.
  • Maintain Health & Safety awareness to ensure safe working practices.

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills

  • Extensive experience of tissue processing, working with FFPE and frozen tissues, microtome and cryotome sectioning from a wide range of human sample types.
  • Extensive experience of immunofluorescence (IF) single/multi plex staining
  • Experience with special stains, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and RNAscope assays
  • Experience with automated tissue staining platforms.
  • Ability to validate and optimize novel antibodies for immunohistochemistry
  • Expertise in image acquisition of tissue sections and subsequent image analysis using commercially available platforms/software.
  • Handling human tissue and deep understanding of the use of human tissue in the UK (HTA regulations) will be well received.
  • Expertise in FAIR and ALCOA data integrity practices
