When considering applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant’s ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level as well as high-quality and research-based teaching within the area of Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry, Self-Assembly SystemsThe professor will become a central member in the research group “Pharmaceutical Physical and Analytical Chemistry”. The main purpose of the Pharmaceutical Physical and Analytical Chemistry Group is to develop novel approaches for physical chemical characterization drugs and delivery systems. The work paves the way for design of effective novel medicines and a better understanding of the fate of drug substances and delivery systems through application of quantitative analytical methods. More info:The applicant is expected to strengthen the research and education at the Department and facilitate research across complementary and synergistic research disciplines. Specifically, the applicant should have a strong background within one or more of the fields mentioned below:-lipid-based self-assembly systems and their application as drug delivery systems– application of state-of-the-art physicochemical methodologies (e.g., small-angle X-ray and/or neutron scattering techniques) to understand structural aspects and responsiveness of such systems to internal and external factorsThe professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination, as well as activities to secure funding for this
  • Develop and organize high-quality research-based teaching, including associated examination within the Department’s education activities
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
  • Academic assessments and other contributions to the scientific community
  • Contributions to committees and functions at the Department, the Faculty, and the University as needed

Required qualifications
To be qualified for a professor position, you will be assessed according to these six overall criteria for recognising merit at the University of Copenhagen: Research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding, and leadership.   • A high degree of original academic production at an international level, including considerable contributions to the development of the academic discipline
  • Experience and capacity to manage research and other functions, e.g. engage in the university’s external academic activities, as well as knowledge and technology transfer
  • Extensive experience in research-based teaching within Pharmaceutical Sciences, including course development, examination work and supervision

The professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.Terms of employment
