Job Introduction
Delivering a breadth of outstanding content, from institutional access documentaries such as The Met for BBC, Undercover Police: Hunting Paedophiles and Grenfell: The Untold Story for Ch4 to our investigative shows such as Scam Interceptors and Rip Off Britain, as well as our long running strand Crimewatch Live. The Documentary Unit has a mission to create and deliver the most compelling reputational, access driven documentaries and constructed factual stories to a broad audience.
About Crimewatch Live
Coming from our Cardiff base Crimewatch Live takes to the streets of Britain to appeal directly to the public for help with unsolved cases for three weeks of programmes on BBC One.
Featuring filmed crime reconstructions and following the work of the police, the show will broadcast live every morning for three weeks in March from the BBC’s Central Square building in Cardiff.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Production Manager to work on the next run of Crimewatch Live starting in November. The role would suit experienced PCs or JPMs looking for line management experience and those seeking to develop their skills before progressing to PM level.
Main Responsibilities
Working closely with the PM, the Junior Production Manager will be responsible for managing the VT Filming teams on a day to day basis, working closely with the SP to schedule teams, manage spend and monitor health and safety in a demanding and changing environment. The JPM will line manage a team of PMA and runners.
You will contribute to the commissioning and approval/start of production processes, ensuring resources and editorial aspirations are aligned. In addition to this, you will help ensure production teams are aware of, and adhere to, BBC guidelines and policies.
Are you the right candidate?
- Demonstrable experience of delivering fast turnaround insert films
- Demonstrable working knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production with a level of technical understanding to enable the most efficient production of content
- Effective project management skills and proven experience of delivering projects
- Able to manage interpersonal relationships effectively and work collaboratively within a diverse team
- Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective relations with a wide range of contacts
- Proven track record of being organised and responsive in fast paced environments
- Demonstrates strong organisational and planning skills and manages conflicting demands to meet deadlines
- Experience of monitoring and managing Health & Safety on a production
