You will contribute to the development, maintenance and use of our linear programming-based dispatch and unit commitment model of the EU power system, based on the Antares open-source framework. You are a source of proposals for researching and testing innovative modeling and data analysis techniques. You will contribute your knowledge of quantitative methods for data processing and analysis, optimization, scientific programming and economic analysis, in some of the following areas:
- Global economic analysis of the operational functioning and performance – costs, emissions – of the European power system (dispatching, supply/demand matching, security of supply, climate sensitivity, spatial balances, etc.).
- Flexibility of the European power system in the context of deep decarbonization: flexible hydrogen demand, electricity storage, flexible nuclear generation, demand-side management, etc…
- Sector integration from a power system perspective: Power-to-X, Power and Heat…
- Uncertainty modeling in an optimization framework
- Solving large-scale continuous, mixed and/or binary linear programs using state-of-the-art techniques (row/column generation; heuristics/meta-mechanistics).
You’ll be able to deploy your knowledge and skills to produce high-quality results for internal, national and international research projects. You’ll be immersed in a stimulating work environment, where scientific challenges will allow you to shine and develop new skills.The size of the team will enable you to have close relations with management and colleagues. You will be responsible for various actions in a project-oriented environment that will enable you to be proactive. You will report to the project manager and to the head of the energy systems modeling team at I-Tese.
