Offer DescriptionThe researcher will participate in the research in the project entitled “Investigation of physics of energetically-rich solar flares through characterizing thermal-nonthermal energy partition and associated electron events” carried out at SRC PAS. The project leader is Dr. Arun Kumar Awasthi.
Planned tasks include:
1) Ranking the flare based on their energetic importance as derived from the multiwavelength observations and particle characterization;
2) Analysis of particle measurements;
3) Development of Python-based software for solar data analysis;

• PhD in astrophysics, physics or equivalent;

• Extensive knowledge of solar flare physics;

• Extensive experience in the analysis of astronomical data (images and spectra) from X-ray and UV instruments;

• Knowledge of the dynamics of high-energy charged particles in interplanetary space and their relationship to solar activity;

• Good knowledge of the details of the design of the Spectrometer/Telescope for Imaging X-rays (STIX) and Energetic Particle Detector (EPD) on board the Solar Orbiter mission;

• Knowledge of the software for analyzing data from the Solar Orbiter/EPD instrument;

• Knowledge of the observations of the Sun in the hard X-ray range;

• Excellent knowledge of the Python and IDL programming languages;

• Knowledge of the statistical analysis of numerical modelling results;

• Knowledge of English at a level that allows for free use of scientific literature, communication and writing scientific publications;

• Real interest in science, commitment to scientific work, ability to think critically.
