RESEARCH CENTER: Institute of Sustainable Processes – University of ValladolidJOB POSITION: Postdoctoral contract in “Anaerobic digestion of high ionic strength waste streams”PROJECT TITLE: Methane production via anaerobic digestion using high ionic strength waste streamsPROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project supports the ambitious goal set by the European Union aiming to produce 35 billion cubic meters of biomethane by 2030 as a replacement for natural gas. By demonstrating the potential of using high strength waste streams for methane production through anaerobic digestion, this project will play a crucial role in advancing circular economy principles. Tasks to be performed include:
- Explore the relationship between methane production and microbial populations.
- Assess the physical structure of anaerobic microbial systems.
- Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentation in congresses, etc.
- Writing project proposals to national and international calls related to the topic.
- Supervision of PhD, Master or undergraduate students.
DURATION: 01/01/2025 – 31/12/2026REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ph.D. degree in biotechnology, chemical engineering, chemistry or related areas.
- Proven expertise on anaerobic digestion technology.
- Bioinformatics.
- Experienced in national and international research projects and collaborations.
- Strong publication record.
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
