Job description

Offer DescriptionGrant/funding reference: PID2022-137361NB-I00Job title: New Bispyridinium Molecular Switches Towards Controlled Chemical Function in Aqueous MediaResearch line / Scientific-technical services: Stimuli responsive materials.Tasks to be performed. The tasks to be carried out by the beneficiary of this contract will be research and aimed at the completion of a doctoral thesis.Stage 1: Synthesis of new molecular compounds soluble in aqueous media through the use of dynamic covalent chemistry, specifically using the lability of acylhydrazone, hydrazone and imine bonds. The proposed amphiphilic compounds respond to external stimuli such as pH and electric potential and the effect of these stimuli at the molecular level will be studied. All compounds will be characterised by the usual spectroscopic techniques.Stage 2. The second part of the work will consist of studying the aggregation of the amphiphilic compounds synthesised and the effect that the different stimuli to which the monomers respond may have at the supramolecular level.Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Chemistry Education Level Master Degree or equivalentSkills/QualificationsBe enrolled in an doctoral program of the SUG.Additional InformationEligibility criteriaSelection criteria.– Academic record (max. 2 points, minimum mark 7.5 out of 10).– Postgraduate Master’s degree in Chemistry (max. 2 points, 2 points x average mark ).– At least one year’s experience in research work in the field of Supramolecular Chemistry (max. 4 points; 2 points/year).– Experience in the use of the most appropriate and available techniques for structural determination in each case, such as NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 31P, 1H-1H and 1H-13C), UV-Vis, IR, mass spectrometry and HPLC-MS (max. 1 point, 0.5 points/year).– Interview (up to 3 points, the interview will be held provided that the minimum value of the dossier is exceeded and that the difference in score between the highest scoring candidates, excluding the interview, is less than 2 points). The call for applications may be declared void if there is no candidate with a score of more than 6 points, which is also the minimum score for inclusion on the waiting list.Selection processWHERE TO APPLY: UDC online services site.
