Your Tasks

  • Alignment and coordination of procurement activities according to schedule;
  • Procurement-internal project management from project set-up, through the execution phase to project-specific supplier evaluation;
  • Active monitoring of projects, escalations if necessary, e.g. delays, schedule changes with purchasing team and business partners, corresponding claim management;
  • Requesting project requirements (supplier lists, deadlines, specifications);
  • Connecting the project team with relevant experts in purchasing (e.g. product group management) and exchanging project information with purchasing teams;
  • Participating in project kick-off and jour fix meetings and updating the project status from a purchasing perspective;
  • Active frontloading;
  • Enquiries to suppliers and, if necessary, negotiation as part of the product development process
  • Development of cost-optimized solutions for new products in cooperation with the development and engineering departments;
  • Analysis and evaluation of incoming savings potential;
  • Support of sourcing decisions in compliance with the respective product group strategy;
  • Acceleration of lead times for savings potential through coordination between the departments involved (e.g. quality assurance, development, product groups, etc.) requesting and analyzing open book calculations;
  • Close coordination with Strategic Purchasing, Operational Purchasing and Materials Planning.

Your Skills Qualifications and knowledge:

  • German: C1
  • English: B2
  • Microsoft Office: good user experience
  • SAP knowledge: an advantage
  • Master craftsman, technician, degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineer or comparable

Skills:

  • Communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate suppliers: asking the right questions in discussions and gaining an impression of the supplier’s capabilities during visits
  • Very good technical and economic understanding
  • Basic legal understanding of contract law is an advantage
  • Negotiating skills and a confident manner
  • Assertiveness and decision-making ability as well as a high degree of initiative, ability to work in a team and sense of responsibility
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel
  • Ability to work in an international environment, intercultural competence

Experience:

  • Several years of purchasing experience in project purchasing or purchasing of drawing parts and mechanical components is an advantage
