Education, Health and Care Inclusion Officers are key to those processes.By joining the Special Education Service you will be part of a dynamic and vibrant team coordinating and managing the administration of statutory assessment procedures for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in line with relevant government legislation.We are currently recruiting two permanent posts working 37 or 18 ½ hours per week,Monday to Friday with flexible hours. Usually based at New Parks House the team are currently working a hybrid model from home and Leicester City Offices in line with service needsWhat you’ll be doingWith every child at the heart of your role, you’ll prepare, propose, and amend Education, Health and Care Plans for individual children and young people , ensuring that the provision is complete and deliverable. Working in collaboration with multiple agencies, you’ll ensure a consistent approach is maintained to maximise the potential of all Leicester City children and young people. Liaising with the Resource Allocation Panel you’ll prepare cases for decision and carry out follow up actions including liaison with education providers, parents, and other professionals. Attending complex and contentious Annual Reviews you’ll deal with the resulting recommendations and required amendments. You will also be responsible for the coordination of Annual Reviews of Education and Health Care plans for permanently excluded pupils, electively home educated young people and those with an EOTAS (Educated Other Than At School) package. Furthermore, you’ll be responsible preparing and co-ordinating the LA’s submissions to the SEND Tribunal and for oral representation of the LA at Appeal Hearings.What you’ll needYou’ll have experience of Special Educational Needs within a Local Authority or statutory body, ideally within a specialist area involving multi-professional assessment and appeal procedures. Using knowledge of the Children’s and Families Act, you’ll be able to follow the statutory process for an Education, Health and Care Plan. You’ll be able to work confidently with parents, schools, and other agencies, providing clear and concise advice and guidance. Working in a sensitive and confidential environment, you’ll be proactive, working to relevant timescales in a professional and timely manner.
