DTU Earthbound is a climate tech catalyst designed to mobilize, nurture and mature climate tech across DTU’s academic ecosystem and hatch them as early-stage startups.DTU Earthbound is embedded at DTU Skylab; the innovation hub of DTU with a vibrant community supporting diverse activities such as curricular courses, company collaborations, and start-up support programmes. In the 10 years that DTU Skylab has existed, it has become a dynamic innovation hub with 5000+ m2 of offices, teaching facilities, prototyping workshops, and laboratories.DTU Earthbound is a tight-knit team of 7 employees that work with both scientists and students at DTU to ensure that more research, ideas and action on campus are targeted at the climate challenges we are facing. Over the next couple of years, Earthbound is on a mission to mobilize and support new climate startups and see them spin out of the university into life as a company. Launched in November 2023, this new initiative is made possible by DTU; its innovation unit DTU Skylab and the early-stage venture house, PSV.What you will do
You will have the role of supporting early research teams in their journey towards commercialising their technologies from early idea to founding a company. This includes start-up coaching, facilitating workshops, improving the resource library and toolbox we offer, matching ventures with experienced entrepreneurs, and helping them on their funding journey towards spinning out.Primary tasks include:

  • Venture building with (pre-) climate tech startups within e.g. new battery technologies, power to X, sustainable agriculture solutions, carbon capture and utilisation, and much more.
  • Facilitate venture building workshop within customer validation, market discovery, and fundraising
  • Work with DTU Skylab’s other advisors, Innovation Partners and programs to secure the success of the teams we support
  • Become an ambassador for DTU Earthbound at departments to motivate more teams to bring their technologies to market
  • Establish new useful offerings, networks, and partnerships for our teams e.g Investor networks etc.

Who you are
Preferably you have 6-10 years of experience with the early journey of startups, fundraising or VC experience. You have an entrepreneurial mind-set and have a technical / research background or used to working in the interface between research and business development. You thrive in an environment of teamwork and collaboration across disciplines.In other words, you can probably recognize yourself in some of the points below:

  • experience with and understanding of deep tech entrepreneurship / venture building especially in an academic environment
  • experience with fundraising and/or venture capital
  • experience in facilitating startup workshops and/or courses
  • strong team player, result-oriented and self-motivated with a focus on creating value, collaboration and communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • a relevant higher education – e.g. a technical, scientific or commercial education
  • possess strong networking skills, good at meeting new people and seeing opportunities
  • experience from working in– either startups/scale-ups, accelerators, innovation hubs, or corporate venture building
  • excellent communication skills in both Danish and English
  • experience with sustainability, climate tech and/or impact investment in your previous work

Terms of employment
Salary and employment terms are according to the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or other relevant union.
