The Impact You’ll Make

As a Process Engineer at Lam, you will operate on cutting-edge technology, material science, and surface engineering to push technical boundaries. Your role involves developing new and advanced process formulations, defining equipment hardware to meet processing requirements, evaluating test data, and coordinating design requirements to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Your expertise and knowledge plays a crucial role to our customers success, making an impact on the next generation of semiconductor breakthroughs.

What You’ll Do

Technical Job Requirements

  • Responsible for performing professional process engineering research, development and evaluation in support of the company’s complex semiconductor capital equipment and systems.
  • Reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication and evaluation of products. Involvement may begin at any step from C&F activities, over pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing.
  • May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts and approaches in the processing or development of new processes.
  • Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
  • Supports senior engineers and customer technology managers in the planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting of customer demos to defend existing process applications.
  • Works with customers and senior engineers cross functionally to understand roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements and business issues/ challenges.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams with various key competencies to get information and results needed.
  • Pro-active working style to ensure an adequate project turnaround time.
  • Very good written and spoken English skills to communicate with colleagues around the word.
  • Willingness to travel worldwide case by case to support customers on-site or to conduct tests at other company locations.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Master in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related type of education.
  • Familiarity with working in a chemical laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred to have some relevant work experience of 1-5 years in related industry field or through cooperation projects of university with industry partners.
  • Experience in surface preparation and analytical techniques.
  • Interest in advanced technology and an on-going desire to learn.
  • In-dept understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines.
  • Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.
  • Collaboration/ Matrix environment mindset.

Compensation

This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in occupation group E. A higher payment is negotiable depending on education, expertise and skills. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year. Please follow the link below in the “Employment in Austria” section for further information.
