They are looking for a talented Research Engineer to join our world-class team, supported by top-tier investors and industry leaders.Research Engineer role –As a Research Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing and fine-tuning language models, working to ensure their quality and safety. You’ll have the opportunity to push the boundaries of AI technology, collaborating with leading experts in the field. Your responsibilities will include:
- Fine-tuning language models using both full parameter and parameter-efficient methods to achieve specific quality and safety benchmarks.
- Creating a comprehensive evaluation framework with datasets and metrics tailored to various use cases.
- Collaborating with founders, advisors, and top-tier researchers to address complex AI alignment challenges.
- Building and leading our applied research organisation, setting a high standard of excellence.
- Tackling some of the toughest engineering challenges in the field of LLMs in production.
QualificationsWe are looking for Research Engineer candidates who demonstrate exceptional ML engineering skills:
- Expertise in training and evaluating language models on GPUs, ideally using PyTorch.
- Proven experience in productionising and optimising large-scale ML systems, particularly LLMs.
- Strong software engineering background with proficiency in software design and architecture, preferably in Python.
- Ability to distil complex research ideas into practical applications.
- Experience in elite AI research environments (e.g., top AI labs).
- Familiarity with high-stakes ML domains such as self-driving cars, search, ads, or quantitative finance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Publications in leading AI conferences.
- Experience as an early engineer in a fast-paced start-up environment.
- A strong interest in and thoughtful approach to the societal impacts of AI technology.

- Competitive salary: £100K – £160K GBP
