The Role:Cambridge University Estates Division is looking to recruit a Leading Hand (Electrician) to join their busy Maintenance team.The Maintenance Section is responsible for maintaining the operational estate as well as carrying out minor refurbishments, alterations and PPM.The successful candidate will ensure that building services are maintained to a high standard of safety and comply with current regulations. The role holder will also support a Supervisor with day-to-day maintenance duties.In addition, the Leading Hand will provide assistance and direction to a small team of electricians together with selected specialist contractors in the repair, construction and refurbishment of new or modified services. The role holder must therefore be able to demonstrate a wide knowledge of a variety of mechanical and electrical services, which includes lighting, power and distribution systems, mechanical plant controls and Building Management Systems.About you:The successful candidate will be educated to at least Level 4/HNC standard or equivalent and hold an industry-recognised qualification in electrical installation and inspection and testing.Experience in a similar role along with a sound working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, excellent communication and inter-personal skills as well as flexible approach to work are essential. A current full Driving Licence is essential.The successful candidate may be required to be available on a rota basis for out of hours or standby duties.Benefits of working at the University of Cambridge include:
