Shockwave Medical aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.The purpose of the Market Access Senior Manager role is to develop and execute strategies to support the successful access and reimbursement of Shockwave technologies in continental Europe. The primary goal of a Senior Market Access Manager is to advance favorable market conditions for Shockwave technologies.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute focused market access strategies across Europe in alignment with Shockwave’s business objectives. This involves assessing market dynamics, competitive landscape, reimbursement policies and regulatory requirements to identify opportunities and potential barriers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, marketing, and regulatory affairs to establish pricing strategies and reimbursement models for our products. Conducting pricing analyses, cost-effectiveness evaluation and financial forecasting to ensure optimal market positioning.
  • Manage and ensure the timely execution of reimbursement submissions, HTA evaluations, value dossiers, evidence reviews and other HEOR and RWE related activities. Identify insights and opportunities for market access optimisation.
  • Lead effective value conversations with key regional decision makers (payers, hospital administrators, policy makers etc…)
  • Develop and adapt reimbursement tools to local needs as needed. Monitor market access performance, track reimbursement trends, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders including payers, policy makers, healthcare providers, patient advocacy groups, and industry associations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, medical affairs, clinical development to integrate market access considerations into product development, launch strategies and commercialisation plans)
  • Provide expert insight on European reimbursement policy and its impact on commercial objectives.
  • Identify barriers to patient access and propose strategies to resolve them.
  • Adapt strategies when policy changes present new barriers or opportunities.
  • Support the wider global market access organisation where required.

QualificationsTechnical Skills –

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French language desirable
  • Knowledge of relevant payer and reimbursement systems and reimbursement compliance
  • Knowledge of process for policy development and implementation
  • Knowledge of health economics & outcomes research
  • Knowledge of and ability to interact successfully with stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines
  • Skills with the development and deployment of health economics outcomes tools desirable (e.g., Markov modeling, decision tree analysis)
  • Skills in evidence review and presentation of literature desirable.
  • Skilled in creation and presentation of real-world evidence desirable
  • Fully understands financial and non-financial objectives of the global business strategy.

Education and Experience –

  • Minimum 5 years professional in reimbursement / HE area (Medical Devices sector and cardiovascular-related a plus)
  • Experience in at least one end-to-end reimbursement process in one European country with knowledge of all relevant steps and stakeholders involved (eg France)
  • Experience working efficiently in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in supporting KOLs in conversations with payers/purchasing groups and hospital administrations.
