Job title:

Post-doc in protein engineering for the design of multimodal imaging tools M/F

Job description

Offer DescriptionWe are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop new tools for studying endogenous molecules in their cellular context. These tools will be designed to meet two types of complementary objectives: on the one hand to enable imaging of endogenous protein targets, notably using super-resolutive fluorescence microscopy techniques, and on the other to modulate the activity and stability of these same target proteins. This multidisciplinary project is led by Matthieu Sainlos (IINS).
The project aims to develop new molecular probes that will enable endogenous proteins to be studied and monitored directly in their original cellular environment. Protein recognition modules for our biological targets will be obtained by directed evolution. Protein engineering methods will then be used to generate probes from these specific molecular recognition modules, which will be used in different but complementary imaging modalities, ranging from super-resolution fluorescence microscopy to single-protein tracking techniques. At the same time, these same modules will be exploited to modulate the activity and stability of targeted proteins, notably through light control.Field of activity 1: Protein engineering
Apply directed evolution to generate new binders
Characterize new binders by biophysical and biochemical methods
Engineering binders for use as imaging/modulation toolsBusiness Area 2: Cell Biology and Imaging
Characterizing imaging tools in different cellular contexts (adherent cells, macrophages, neurons, cancer cells)
Imaging molecular organization and dynamics in subcellular structures
Develop approaches to modulate the activity and stability of targeted endogenous proteinsEstablished in 2011, IINS brings together 180 scientists from different nationalities and backgrounds (chemistry, structural biology, molecular and cell biology, biophysics, clinical medicine, advanced imaging, neurobiology) to understand brain function in healthy and pathological states. IINS conducts multidisciplinary research at the cutting edge of synapse biology and neural systems physiology, with a particular focus on the development of new technologies and tools.Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Neurosciences Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Biological sciences Education Level PhD or equivalentLanguages FRENCH Level BasicResearch Field Neurosciences Years of Research Experience NoneResearch Field Biological sciences Years of Research Experience NoneAdditional InformationEligibility criteriaWith a PhD degree in biotechnology, protein engineering and/or cell imaging, this position requires :
