You will also support the development of business cases, plans and financial reporting across the University’s change portfolios.You will have experience of management information reporting, financial planning, establishment modelling, budget preparation and control in a large organisation.   • Provide financial support to the Head of Finance (Professional Services) in the development and preparation for any strategy development and any operational plans linked to the agreed Strategy.
  • Take responsibility for resolving issues independently within Professional Services Finance where they fall within set role objectives, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action and ensuring complex and conceptual issues and solutions are understood by the audience
  • Prepare the Professional Services annual budgets, financial forecasts, establishment model, outturn analysis and reporting.
  • Lead as required in the activities relating to Year End closure and production of Year End documentation within specified deadlines for Professional Services Finance.
  • Provide assistance to senior staff in monitoring financial performance during the year across the full range of the Department’s activities and to advise where appropriate on any action to be taken.
  • Seek to add value to the operation of University through the identification of opportunities for business development and efficiencies of operation.
  • Establish, communicate and maintain compliance with University Financial Regulations and Procedures.
  • Provide regular support to Directors, Budget Holders and Project Managers on varied financial matters, including, but not limited to budgets, forecasts, coding matters, University Financial Regulations and Procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of Professional Services initiatives that have a University wide impact.
  • Ensure that the provision of Professional Services Finance is delivered to the institution, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements, contributing to the development of institution wide standards within accounting and financial management.
  • Establish relationships with key contacts to ensure role objectives are meet, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required.
  • Collaborate with others in order to develop processes and procedures used within the sector.
  • Undertake the training of others in areas relating to the teams work.
  • Undergo personal and professional development that is appropriate to and which will enhance performance.
  • Establish working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Departments and outside bodies as required.
  • Investigate and analyse specific issues within Professional Services Finance, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within accounting and financial management.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience * Substantial experience of working within a management accounting field, with particular experience of budgetary & forecasting control for projects.
