Job description
We are currently recruiting for a full-time Assistant Director of Studies. This is a salaried position with the hours 09:00 to 5:00 from Monday to Friday (40 hours a week). The role involves assisting the Director of Studies in the effective running of the academic component of the department.
This includes (but is not limited to):– assisting with student placement and assessment
– supporting and advising teachers with regards to teaching materials, lesson-planning and any other academic matters
– organising and contributing to the school’s CPD programme
– assisting with staff recruitment, induction and initial observations of new teachers
– developing syllabi for specialist courses such as YL, Business English and exam English
– ensuring teachers’ files are kept up-to-date and teachers’ administrative duties are completed in a timely manner
– teaching a General English class in the morningThe successful candidate should be well-organised, have a passion for ELT and be able to support and communicate effectively within a team.Safeguarding:As KAE is the English language department of David Game College, we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Part of the post-holder’s responsibilities will be to adhere to our Safeguarding Policy. Interviews will be face-to-face in London or online. When following up references, referees will be specifically asked if they have any concerns about the applicant working with people under 18. Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and sign a Suitability to Work with Children Declaration, where you will be asked to state any criminal convictions. Applicants based overseas will be asked to provide evidence of a ‘clean’ local police check. Before commencement of employment at KAE, applicants will also need to complete the Child Protection Level 1 training course.QualificationsEssential:
Candidates are required to have a DELTA or Trinity Diploma in TESOL and / or MA / MSc in TEFL or TESOL and 5 years or more teaching experienceDesirable:
A Bachelor’s degree
Previous experience in a similar position
Previous experience with syllabus design
