Job description

Context & Job descriptionAbout 40% of the ESRF’s beamlines are involved in Geosciences. They take full benefit from the exceptional beam properties offered by the ESRF-EBS, currently the only high-energy 4th generation source worldwide. We are currently seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work on multiresolution X-ray uCT and 4D X-ray uCT at the imaging beamlines BM18 and BM05. Subjects range from polar sea ice to volcanic lavas passing by fluid flow through experiments related to earthquakes, rock compression, carbon storage, hydrogen production, sustainable industrial practice, and low carbon production. The imaging techniques used at BM05 and BM18 are of the most advanced, automatised and stable, it includes multiresolution from hundred of microns resolution down to a third of a micron as well as various sample environments for in-situ scanning from low to high temperatures and pressures up to 5 km depth. Soon, dedicated devices for long-term recurrent scans of samples during slow dynamic processes will be added to this portfolio. You will be encouraged to develop your in-house research projects to publish scientific articles. You will also provide support to external users in geosciences and be involved in the daily life of the beamlines.Expected profile
