About AMICE:

The Association of Mutual Insurers and Insurance Cooperatives in Europe (AMICE) is the voice of the mutual and cooperative insurance sector in Europe. The sector represents approximately one-third of all insurance business in Europe.

 

AMICE’s primary remit is to advocate for appropriate and fair treatment of all mutual and cooperative insurers regardless of size in Europe. It has 78 full members across 21 countries and speaks for an additional 700 insurers through its national associations members. In addition, AMICE has two associate members and two supporting members.

 

AMICE provides a platform for mutual and cooperative insurers of all sizes to combine resources and expertise, exchange experiences across national borders and discuss key issues and concerns relating to EU legislative and regulatory changes. It encourages its members to collaborate and share views on topics and developments which may impact them.

 

 

About the role:

AMICE is currently looking for an experienced public affairs professional to fill in the Head of Advocacy role for a maternity cover of 3 months (September – November 2024).

 

The successful candidate will cover for the Head of Advocacy during the maternity leave by monitoring key policy developments and engaging with the relevant stakeholders internally and externally to ensure the continuity of AMICE’s efforts and work on the key policy dossiers.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Cover for the Head of Advocacy during maternity leave.
  • Actively track all relevant dossiers for the AMICE membership, in particular focusing on policy priorities and mission letters of new Commission and hearings.
  • Work closely with the Chair of the Regulatory Affairs Working Group and with the Secretary General as key relevant dossiers develop and plan engagement activities accordinglY .
  • Arrange meetings of the Regulatory Affairs Working Group, including documentation, participation, secretariat activities and outcomes.
  • Liaise with the Chair of the Regulatory Affairs Working Group on meeting schedules, agendas and other aspects of preparation.
  • Update working group members on developments in key dossiers.
  • Prepare policy positions on key dossiers.
  • Respond to consultations or requests for information on key dossiers.
  • Liaise with members and AMICE Secretariat on developing positions and consultation responses.
  • Liaise with Social Dialogue Committee and Social Economy Europe, in conjunction with Secretary General.

 

Your profile:

  • Proven experience in EU public affairs / policy work.
  • Very good understanding of the EU policy-making processes.
  • Ideally, prior experience in engaging with the EU institutions.
  • Ideally, a good understanding of the policy areas of focus for AMICE.
  • Relevant university degree, e.g. in law, political science, finance.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, other languages a plus.
  • Independent and proactive, able to take ownership of the project and drive it with minimal supervision.
  • Good at building consensus, bringing diverse stakeholders around the table.
