We are currently recruiting for a Vice President Accounting and Reporting for our Finance Division in Düsseldorf.

Main purpose of the role:

The Vice President Accounting and Reporting reports into the Head of Finance Germany and is part of the overall finance function with a reporting line to CFO and Head of Finance in the Netherlands. The role is fundamental in bringing current day insights and contribute to the transformation journey and changing mindset of the MBE Finance function. To that end, the role collaborates intensively with colleagues in Germany and Amsterdam to improve and align accounting and reporting processes. The jobholder is able to coach and develop colleagues, as well as ensuring that the respective finance processes are in control, consistent and properly documented.

  • Contribute hands-on to process improvements and change projects across MBE

  • Develop, assist and coach colleagues to improve banking/accounting knowledge and insights in current daily processes and data analysis

  • Involvement in the monthly closing process, including review of activities prepared by junior colleagues

  • Involvement in periodic reporting process (group, regulatory and statutory reporting) for Germany and the Netherlands

  • Be a sparring partner to and support where required the German Management, CFO, Head of Finance and Head of Finance Germany

The core responsibilities of this role are :

  • Preparation and control of monthly closing work as well as the periodic reporting processes both on group level as wellas within MBE (according to J-GAAP, US-GAAP and IFRS)

  • Review of working papers, accounting entries and reports prepared by other colleagues

  • Involvement and preparation of more complex accounting assessments (e.g.pension, fee recognition)

  • Preparation and control of regular reports to banking authorities (Bundesbank, BaFin, Dutch Central Bank): Monthly statistical reports (balance sheet statistic, interest payment statistic, external position of banks), monthly reporting accordingto Foreign Trading and Payments Ordinance (AWV), monthly ANACredit-reporting, quarterly reporting of Million-Loan-Exposure (Millionenkreditverordnung), support MBE regulatory reports where requiredand other (if necessary, due to actual developments of Regulatory Reporting)

  • Project work: Improvement of accounting and reporting processes in MBE, development of accounting and reporting tools, process documentation, alignment of accounting and group (regulatory or statutory) reporting process across MBE

  • Coach colleagues by sharing knowledge and supporting improvements of understanding and processes, resulting in both development of colleagues and processes

  • Preparation of new product assessments related accounting matters (co-working across finance functions)

  • Ad-hoc tasks related to accounting and reporting: Support the German Management, Head of Finance Germany as well Head of Finance and CFO

  • Contact person in Germany Branch for accounting matters and training other colleagues

  • Trackactual developments in accounting regulations and in regulatory reporting and check the application to the bank incooperation with the Head of Finance Germany across the wider finance function

  • Travel as part of the role is required (5 to 20 percent), mostly to other German cities, Amsterdam and potentially London

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following skills and experience :

  • Diploma or master’sdegree in Economics focussing on Banking, Accounting or Mathematical background

  • Preferably a post-master education (Internationaler Bilanzbuchhalter, ACA, ACCA, CFA or comparable)

  • Work experience in the banking industry preferred focussing on change management, regulatory reporting or accounting, otherwise work experience in a Big Four Audit Company with focus on financial services would be helpful

  • Having led project/audit teams and/or teams within a bank would be considered a plus

  • Advanced knowledge in English and GErman, Dutch or Japanese skills can be helpful

  • Software skills: Advanced Excel-knowledge (Macros, VBA), SQL/Python knowledge is preferred, working with accounting or regulatory reporting systems

  • Knowledge of banking products and accounting of banking products especially according to IFRS including knowledge about banking regulation and regulatory reporting and experience with risk, controls and proper process documentation
