Planday was acquired by Xero in 2021.Unique for this roleThis is a 9 month temporary position that expected to join Planday as soon as possible and work with innovation in an in-house incubator, where, where we work with an evidence-based design and prioritise velocity over perfection. You will join a fully cross-functional team who aim to increase speed to market with innovative solutions for new untapped verticals. Within the next 6-9 months we’ll go from very high-level concepts to launching a product in the market.It is a benefit if you have experience with design innovation, start-ups/agencies and mobile design.How you’ll make an impactAs a Lead Product Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the user experience of our products, driving innovation and excellence across Planday. Your strategic insights and design expertise will influence both business and user outcomes, ultimately contributing to the success and growth of Planday. By driving collaboration and championing design excellence, you will inspire and empower team members to deliver exceptional user experiences. You will be a key Tech Product Design Trio member within your delivery team as a Lead UX expert across Planday. You will drive Design’s maturity journey across the company.What you’ll do

  • UX Strategy Development: Develop UX strategies for your product area and across user journeys, considering business and product contexts, and conducting strategic analysis. Piece together customer journeys and engage in conceptual thinking to drive impactful design solutions.
  • UX Research & Insights: Lead generative and evaluative research to gather user insights and inform product prioritisation. Utilise data and insights to guide design decisions and enhance user experiences. Keep the user extremely close to the team.
  • UX Craftsmanship: Lead through lean UX methodologies to create wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs that meet user needs and business objectives. Continuously refine design solutions based on user feedback and iterative testing. Drive deliveries alongside engineering and product.
  • UX Operations: Lead the uplift our design systems and establish processes that streamline design workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Implement best practices for collaboration and version control to ensure consistency and scalability across products.
  • Collaboration & Partnerships: Communicate design concepts effectively through visual communication and senior stakeholder management. Facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams to align on design goals and priorities.
  • Impactful Leadership: Serve as a leader and role model within the organization, supporting the growth and development of team members. Foster a culture of citizenship and collaboration, where each team member is empowered to contribute to the success of the product and organization.

  • High-Quality UX Deliverables: Produce high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs that reflect user-centric principles and best practices. Push for best practice in delivery alongside product and engineering (particularly front-end).
  • Efficient UX Operations: Lead and implement design systems and processes that improve efficiency and scalability across product teams.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Foster strong relationships with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams, facilitating alignment and driving consensus on design direction.
