At BASF, careers develop from opportunities.Corporate Government Relations guides the political dialogue between the BASF group and the political actors within the EU, especially the political institutions of the European Union and the related organizations. This contains monitoring the policy and legislative trends, taking a stance for the BASF group, as well as the internal and external communication regarding these themes.We are searching for a Senior Manager Trade and Geoeconomic Policy to strengthen the BASF team in our Brussels office in the European quarters.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You monitor and accompany legislative initiatives and policy trends in the context of the EU’s trade and trade related policy. Hands-on knowledge on the working of trade defense instruments, export controls and sanctions would be an asset;
  • You follow and analyze geoeconomic policy trends such as the EU’s relationship to the US as well as to China;
  • You analyze these topics in close cooperation with our internal experts and BASF’s Government Relations Team regarding their impact on BASF itself and our customer sectors, identify opportunities and risks, and define political messages and positions;
  • You devise and implement advocacy plans to drive possible solutions as part of a cross-functional pan-European project team.
  • You proactively engage policymakers and other stakeholders in relevant political institutions and associations, e.g. by arranging and conducting meetings and organizing events.
  • You initiate and maintain networks within and outside BASF with all relevant stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • You have successfully completed your studies in in political sciences, law, business administration or humanities.
  • You already have some initial work experience related to EU policymaking in an EU institution, an association, an NGO or the private sector.
  • You are familiar with processes and procedures of EU legislation and bring experience with the topic of trade policy to the job.
  • You are open-minded about technical and policy issues and have already proven your analytical and strategic skills.
  • Your actions are characterized by entrepreneurial thinking.
  • You have experience in driving your projects by using digital communication tools.
  • Because of your excellent communication skills, you are sure in interviewing, in presentations and in events with public discussion.
  • You are fluent in English and ideally have C1-level knowledge of German.
