DistriNet is a leading research group specializing in secure and distributed software, embedded in the KU Leuven Department of Computer Science. With over 100 researchers, including 15 full-time professors, the group excels in systems-centric, application-driven research, often collaborating closely with industry. DistriNet’s expertise has led to the creation of multiple spin-off companies. The group focuses on Secure Software and Systems, encompassing applications, services, middleware and systems, infrastructures, methods, and tools. Join our team as a post-doc researcher in trustworthy decentralized systems and grab the opportunity to help define and steer the work of a talented group of researchers and to grow your research experience at a top university in Europe.ResponsibilitiesAs a post-doc researcher in Trustworthy Decentralized Systems you will become part of the DistriLED team in DistriNet, a group of passionate researchers with a shared focus on distributed ledgers and decentralized systems, coordinated by Prof. Tom Van Cutsem.
As part of this team you will have the opportunity to further deepen your existing research expertise by advancing new lines of research related to blockchain networks and decentralized systems.
Additionally, as the team’s more senior post-doc researcher you will be able to grow your experience as a mentor by providing guidance and coaching to the junior researchers and PhD students in the team.
You will also be able to grow your experience as a research manager by collaborating directly with DistriNet’s research experts, valorization managers and faculty to identify opportunities for collaboration with other research groups and with industry, and to attract and secure funding for research in the group.
A final area of responsibility relates to supporting our education programmes (Master in Computer Science and Master in Cybersecurity). As a post-doc you will co-supervise and mentor students working on Master thesis projects. You will also be given an opportunity to lecture in specialist courses (e.g. Capita Selecta) that match well with your area of expertise.Profile

  • You have a PhD degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).
  • You are a recognized expert in blockchain, distributed ledgers, decentralized networks or smart contract development, with a proven publication track record in relevant international conferences or journals.
  • You have Fluent English written and oral communication skills.
  • You can independently plan, execute and report on your work on a regular basis.
  • You are a team player and collaborator.
  • You have an open mind and a curiosity to explore new ideas and technologies.
  • Any experience with grant writing or obtaining personal research grants is a plus.
