Two positions (20% time, equal to 7,4 hours/week) as associate professor and/or assistant professor in evidence-based medicine with special interest in randomized trials are vacant as soon as possible at , ).The positions at SDU will be combined with research positions (80% time, equal to 29.6 hours/week) at .Both positions are for 4 years, starting December 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.The position as associate professor is with the possibility of extension and potentially, of a permanent appointment later on.General job descriptionPotential candidates will be expected to conduct research, teaching/consultancy, and administrative tasks and to provide guidance in the design and reporting of randomized clinical trials under the auspices of Odense University Hospital’s Clinical Trials Unit (CTU). The guidance will focus on development and reporting of trial protocols, issues relating to registration, interpretation of results, data sharing, and reporting of the finished trial. Statistical, legal, and logistical issues relating to trial planning will be addressed by other persons in the Clinical Trials Unit, so the position requires good collaborative skills.The Clinical Trials Unit started on January 1, 2024, and the Centre’s contribution the first two years will consist of a PhD Fellow (already affiliated) and the present vacancies, under the supervision of Professor Asbjørn Hróbjartsson.Research tasksThe candidates will be expected to perform research within the center’s field of interest, including methodological clinical research, randomized clinical trials and systematic reviews (e.g., Cochrane reviews), and clinical research more broadly. The Centre is involved in developing the CONSORT and SPIRIT reporting guidelines, and hosts the Cochrane Bias Methods group, which develops tools to assess risk of bias in randomized trials.Teaching/Consultancy tasksUndergraduate teaching (e.g., introductory course in EBM) and postgraduate teaching (e.g., PhD courses and courses aimed at authors of Cochrane reviews). For the CTU consultancy, see above.Expectations of qualificationsThe successful candidates will be expected to have an interest in clinical trials and methodological research in randomized trials. Experience from providing methodological guidance in a clinical trials unit, is an advantage. A statistical background is also an advantage.Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to have
- a PhD degree within a relevant field
- research experience documented by international peer-reviewed journal articles within the fields of clinical trials and evidence-based medicine
- a documented record of teaching experience and teaching skills
