VP – Data Strategy Lead

Overview

• The AI and Data Strategy organization (Chief Data Office) is responsible for the strategy, acquisition, evaluation, and responsible use of all types of data and data capabilities that can be utilized for innovation by a wide range of Mastercard product and consulting teams.

• The VP or Director, Data Strategy Product, will have responsibility for developing and driving data strategies for the Product teams within the Core Payments organization with a focus on the Network & Digital, Blockchain, Digital Currencies, Debit & Network and Acceptance solutions. The position ensures that Mastercard maintains and increases the value of Mastercard’s data assets as we build new products and services that collect, use, or share data.

Role

VP, Data Strategy, Core Payments

• Ensure that data related processes are aligned to Mastercard standards, including for the ethical sourcing of high-quality data from third parties.

• Identify and document data requirements for new products, including evaluating additional third-party data, required to meet product synergies and revenue forecasts.

• Contribute to data design methodology for new categorisation and connectivity products including documenting Data Briefs, Data Flows, and data material as required by the product development process.

• Collaborate with legal and privacy teams to review data assets and proposed use cases of data to ensure alignment with policies and procedures.

• Provide oversight and leadership of data management activities, including the definition and communication of roadmaps, and project management of internal and external resources delivering that work.

• Serve as a corporate subject matter expert on internal and third-party data to support the acquisition’s product development efforts that leverage the data, ensuring data standards and practices are adhered to.

• Work with data platforms and technology teams to define required changes to the technology platforms.

• Develop educational material and train, as needed, on data usage and data literacy.

• Serve as a Core Payments data asset expert to the broader Mastercard enterprise to enable expanded product and service data strategies to the extent practical and allowed under relevant laws and licenses.

All About You

• Advanced experience working with data products, either in acquisition, development, governance, or evaluation.

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematical, engineering, or technology or equivalent experience.

• Program management experience

• Ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders in regard to the value of data; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present complicated concepts in a clear and coherent manner

• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build strong relationships across the enterprise

• Data management or data analytics experience preferred
