Job description

Contract Engineer required for a major Carbon Capture Storage Project based in the NetherlandsResponsibilities

  • Develop the contracting strategies for the Project with the Package Managers.
  • Lead Contract & Procurement activities comprising of call for tender preparation, tender evaluation, contract clarifications, contract negotiations, contract award, and all post-award contract administration through to contract close-out.
  • Ensure commercial and contractual correspondence with contractors is efficiently handled.
  • Ensure market trend investigation; request for information and benchmark activity within the industry is efficiently performed to ensure contractors & suppliers are quoting competitively and in line with the industry standard.
  • Verifying that contracting and purchasing documents and procedures comply with the standards of the Project and the agreements with the partners.
  • Preparation of documents for presentation to internal/external Committees and various approval committees.
  • Ensure the proper follow up of the contracts. Anticipate and address any potential contracting issues or deviations to contractual requirements in order to minimize Project exposure (cost & schedule).
  • Provide awareness of Contracts requirements to the Project team and develop counter-claim strategy to protect Project interests.
  • Participate in Contractor audits, reviewing records for accuracy and conformance to standards and contract requirements.
  • Administrate legal issues related to damages, claims, disputes, litigations.
  • Contribute to the Project reporting for the Contract & Procurement part

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional experience: 10 years’ hands-on experience with tendering, negotiating, and managing large and complex contracts in an industrial environment.
  • Effective communicator with proven negotiation skills, ability to influence and work transversely to achieve outcomes whilst showing balanced and prudent decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent understanding of complex tasks, ability to work autonomously with great rigor and precision.
  • Team player with ability to work collaboratively across complex project teams and interface between interdisciplinary departments and within an international team.
  • Fluency in English (speaking and writing) is required.
  • Experience in European Public Procurement is a plus.
