Full-time (38.5 hours/week); Place of work Vienna (hybrid 50/50)

Job Overview

The purpose of the job is to achieve profitable sales growth for our Petcare business at one of our largest key accounts for Mars in Austria by being the key contact person for the customer externally (representing Mars) as well as internally (representing the customer).

This role is expected to maintain strong relationships and best execute customer plans that deliver objectives of revenue, growth, profit, product/assortment, everyday shelving, merchandising, pricing, promotions, and seasonal merchandising.

What are we looking for?

  • University / higher education degree in economics, sales, marketing or similar.
  • 5+ years of practical experience in retail sales, ideally some of it in key account or customer management managing big grocery customers.
  • Knowledge of the Austrian market and retail landscape preferred.
  • Fluent in German (written and spoken) obligatory, strong English skills.
  • Track record in building quality relationships inside and outside an organization (stakeholder management), with strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent understanding of forecasting, Nielsen and trade management systems, analytical thinker.
  • Pro-active mindset, a profound business understanding, strong team player qualities, and a hands-on approach.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Create and execute customer’s solutions of profitable sales growth for seasonal, placement and seasonal shelving, merchandising and pricing, that achieves customer objectives, category leadership and company objectives (e.g., Net Sales Value / Earnings growth vs target, NSV/t, Perfect Store targets with specific focus on Weighted Distribution (WD)) through maximizing all available levers and resources (budget, Trade Expenditures, etc.).
  • Persuade customers to implement solutions through fact-based presentations that deliver results that are beneficial for both customer and company, i.e., negotiate Annual Agreements and deliver Net Pricing mandate through negotiations with customers.
  • Complete new product launches with timely and effective execution to maximize customer impact.
  • Execute all agreed to solutions with customers to include accurate, timely forecasting and Planning (annual growth plan, periodical customer NSV) and detailed follow through.
  • Manage customer’s trade funds that comply with internal and external requirements and continually improve effectiveness of spending.
  • Provide customer with category information and make recommendations for category growth, bring customer feedback and potential solutions.
  • Strong collaboration with our Field Force Manager and Field Force Team.
  • Business review (periodical review of customer performance and Field Business Review for direct customers).

Mars Austria OG is subject to the „KV Handel“ (collective bargaining agreement for trade), and offers a salary package above tariff. Mars Austria’s voluntarily higher base salary for this position starts at 73,000 € (14 annual instalments).
