A clinical position as consultant of Nephrology at the Department of Nephrology at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev is open for appointment from as soon as possible.The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Internal Medicine: Nephrology with special focus on Chronic Kidney Disease and Mineral Bone disorder at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.With this new position the Department of Nephrology, Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev and Gentofte in collaboration with Copenhagen University wishes to facilitate the leadership for integrating research, treatment and teaching with focus on the impact of mineral bone disorder in chronic kidney disease. The purpose of the professorship is to strengthen our research centre with focus on both clinical, basic and epidemiological research.It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.The advertisement for the professorship is available from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen ( )About the departmentWe are approx. 210 employees, including 30 doctors of witch 9 doctors are trainees for internal medicine or internal medicine: nephrology. The department is known for having a good working environment, is well-functioning and has a good and trusting working community including the working community with the patients.The department is divided into 6 nephrology areas (3 hemodialysis areas, including one at Hvidovre Hospital, 1 bed ward, 1 day ward and 1 ambulatory with general nephrology and peritoneal dialysis) and 1 ward for palliative treatment.The department handles highly specialized functions of nephrology according to The National Board of Health’s specialist plan.Research and teachingThe department has a research unit, headed by an associate professor and currently includes Postdocs., PhD. – and Scholar students. The main research focus is on Chronic Kidney disease (CKD) cause and complications with special focus on cardiovascular disease and mineral bone disease.In collaboration with the University of Copenhagen and other departments we take great responsibility for pre- and especially postgraduate education.With the new position as consultant in Nephrology and clinical professor of Internal Medicine: Nephrology the Department of Nephrology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.Clinical functions and focus areas of the departmentYou will be part of a specialist medical team with a primary clinical function in the specialist’s outpatient clinic. You are expected to put together an outpatient program and teach colleagues and patients corresponding to your area of ​​interest.QualificationsApplicants must be board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine: Nephrology.ConditionsIn order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev.Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region and University of Copenhagen.As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of the department of Nephrology. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full-time secretary position from the department of nephrology.
