Definition
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing custodial duties in an assigned area in order to maintain the premises in a clean and orderly condition; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, and waxes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets;
Washes ceilings and walls; cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures, doorknobs, playground equipment, and other common areas;
Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork;
Shovels snow; sweeps sidewalks; collects rubbish;
Empties trash and recycling receptacles and replenishes washroom supplies;
Washes windows inside and out;
Replaces light bulbs;
Operates a motor vehicle over City streets as needed when assigned to perform duties at other City facilities;
Makes minor repairs and reports the need for major repairs.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of experience in custodial work.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required for some positions.
