Tasks & responsibilities

As a Scientific Relations Lead, here are your future responsibilities:

  • Leading the team of Scientific Relations Managers and Associates will be your primary responsibility.

  • The development of the stakeholder relations strategy for a specific brand or therapeutic area will be under your purview.

  • Collaborating closely with the Team Leader of Scientific Affairs, you will provide strategic leadership and ensure the delivery of the strategic engagement plan for both in-line and pipeline products.

  • Aligning all activities with the defined medical objectives and other core functions will be a part of your role.

  • Development of the Global Scientific Relations Strategic Paper for the designated therapeutic area or asset(s) will be undertaken by you.

  • Tracking appropriate and compliant KPIs to ensure strategic execution supports the overall Brand/Therapeutic Area Medical strategy will be your responsibility.

  • Managing the organization of Scientific Relations Managers and Associates, setting up goals and priorities for direct reports will be part of your role.

  • In line with the therapeutic area priorities, resource allocation within the group, and establishing and maintaining adequate people management and development, including training and personal development, will be handled by you.

  • Identification of external consultants who can help define and decide on strategic directions for BI/relevant therapeutic area assets, from early development to post-launch, will be overseen by you.

  • Proactive planning and coordination of external stakeholder engagements in close collaboration with related corporate functions will be ensured by you.

  • Steering regular and proactive interactions with relevant EEs, Scientific Expert Groups, and professional associations will be part of your role.

  • Representing BI and the therapeutic area at selected international societies and ensuring that global EEs and key societies and associations are updated on BI’s strategic direction will be your responsibility.

  • Partnership with R/OPUS (especially US, JP, CN, and GER) for the execution of the Global Scientific Relations strategy will be guaranteed by you.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD or comparable) with sound clinical/scientific experience in the pharmaceutical industry (oncology), international setting preferred

  • In depth scientific understanding of the therapeutic area, as well as in international stakeholder relations and medical education. MSL/Medical Advisor experience in the therapeutic areas (oncology) preferred

  • Successful track record in the scientific support of pre-launch and launch activities in major national business units or/and in an international role, including network access to TA-specific EEs. Sound record of long-lasting relations with EEs and external collaborators in the specific TA is a plus.

  • Sound medical and scientific leadership expertise to drive high-priority projects in collaboration with global matrix teams, regional counterparts and external partners

  • Commitment to personal growth and mentoring team members, facilitating a positive atmosphere for empowerment and learning

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, acting with grace and resilience under pressure

  • Excellent communication, negotiation & influencing skills
